Josephine Part 7

Josephine Part 7

I awoke to a stern voice yelling at me.

“Get up! We’re here! Get up, girl!”

I opened my eyes and saw a man dressed in a blue uniform yelling at me.

“Finally! I’ve been trying to wake you for 5 minutes straight. This is the final stop.”

“Who are you?”

“I drive this train! Get out!”

Then he half carried me out the door of the train. I was still half asleep, so the train had driven away before I had figured out where I was.

I had just gotten off a train.

I was trying to find my father.

My mother’s medicines were in danger.

The medicines!

The conductor had forgotten my bag!

I dashed along the tracks, knowing full well I wouldn’t be able to catch up with the train.

I saw the final car turn the corner, and knew it was hopeless. Those medicines were gone, and I had no idea how I could get them back.
